Overview
Sarah Hancock, CyberFirst with NCSC, discussed about building a cyber education ecosystem and to enhance diversity within the Cyber Security industry during June’s SWCSC Networking Meeting.
Building a Cyber Education Ecosystem
- Improve the skills and diversity gap within the Cyber Security industry by building a journey so they understand the depth of Cyber Security by using means to communicate with students:
- Competitions, Train the Teacher, Events with Schools, Meetings with Schools
- To build a Cyber Security education ecosystem
- Connect all the work, raise awareness of opportunities, in a meaningful way and make an impact short and long term
- How to map an ecosystem
- Starting with the South West: What is the current health? What is the current Cyber Security activity? Moving forward with a series of recommendations. Then working collaboratively to increase awareness and build on the opportunities in Cyber Security
- GOAL: Reach out to as many people as possible to get an understanding of areas they operate in, the gaps and need within the industry, and what is working well – in order to build an ecosystem that works well and provides opportunities for younger people to find the gap and the bring in more diversity for the industry
