DDOS Attacks:

DDoS attacks date back to the dawn of the public internet, but the force is strong with this one. According to a 2018 report from International Data Group (IDG), the median downtime caused by a DDoS attack is 7 to 12 hours. Using an estimate from Gartner of $5,600 per minute of downtime, that means the average cost of a DDoS attack is in the $2.3 million to $4 million range. These losses are incurred due to a loss of business operations and does not account for staff time or other associated costs.

Richard Lommers, CompTIA:

“In the past few years, we have seen a dramatic increase in DDoS attacks. We have seen this rise by 967% during this period, and the average cost of a single DDoS attack currently lies between $2.3 and $4 million!

“There is a lack of complete information about these criminal practices, so we created the most comprehensive guide you’ll find on DDoS attacks. The guide, which you can find here, was designed to be useful to people with all types of backgrounds – from people new to it all the way to more seasoned IT professionals.”
