CyberFirst aims to discover and cultivate a diverse group of talented young individuals for careers in cybersecurity. The program’s activities are designed to inspire and motivate students from all backgrounds to explore a career in cybersecurity and apply for a CyberFirst bursary.

We’ve partnered with SaluteMyJob to launch the Cyber Career Jumpstart programme, aiming to address the significant cybersecurity skills gap by providing opportunities for qualified military veterans, reservists, and their spouses.
Who are SaluteMyJob?
SaluteMyJob, a social enterprise, was set up by former Brigadier, Andrew Jackson. SaluteMyJob connects veterans, reservists and military spouses with Forces-Friendly employers by offering a variety of recruitment services. They believe there is a world of opportunity for the Armed Forces Community – if only they could access those opportunities and take the right steps on their journeys into employment.
SaluteMyJob’s mission is to focus on targeted career pathways for the Armed Forces Community. The pathways are helping these candidates to upskill and find employment within areas where employers face business critical skills gaps; cyber security & digital, engineering and project & operations management roles.

What is the Cyber Career Jumpstart Programme?
We have teamed up with SaluteMyJob to pilot a new Cyber Career Jumpstart programme to help close the notable cyber security skills gap with qualified military veterans, reservists and spouses. The new initiative, delivered in collaboration with IBM, is training ex-military personnel for employment in cyber and other in-demand digital roles.

How can employers benefit from the cyber jumpstart programme?
SaluteMyJob is looking to engage with employer partners who will in return receive a number of fantastic benefits:
Priority access to a pool (and build pipelines) of newly qualified cyber-security candidates with additional in-demand soft skills.
The opportunity to promote your brand through webinars, advertorial and marketing to ex-military jobseekers.
1-to-1 advice from our experts on building pipelines of ex-military talent.
You can become an employer partner or if you are a veteran, military spouse or reservist you can sign up to the programme instead.
